MORE INFORMATION ON SPRING & GLACIER WATER

A major thing to consider about Spring  and Glacier waters is the many different sources and the quality of the water from the sources. The ground water sources differ greatly from those drawn from inside a glacier. Not all bottled water companies get their spring water from the same source and therefore the quality, taste and healthiness (pH and mineral content) of the various waters will be quite different.

The mineral content of the water from these springs can range from Monashee Spring Water at the low end of the scale (90 ppm) to over 300 ppm at the higher end of the scale. “Soft water” is typically below 100ppm and “hard water” above 200ppm.

Many of the health professionals that have tested bottled water have found that the pH level of the water is extremely important as well. The pH scale ranges between 0 and 14. A pH of 7 is neutral, less than 7 is acidic and greater than 7 is alkaline.

A body functions best when neither too acidic or alkaline. Unfortunately almost all of us have become acidic due to diet, drinks, stress and environment. Acids can build up in your body’s system causing the body’s pH to be out of balance. When this occurs, the body will restore its optimal pH by depleting certain minerals, such as calcium,  magnesium and potassium for organs and bones. In addition your immune system may become fatigued from dealing with an excess of acid. Your body then stores acidic wastes in places like muscles and fat rather than releasing the acids into the bloodstream. As a noted doctor and heath expert once said “Just about every condition I can think of , from arthritis to diabetes to cancer, is associated with acidity”. How can we combat this? Avoiding highly-acid forming food and drink, and drinking the right water. International studies show that populations with little or no history of illness, drink higher pH (alkaline) waters.

Extensive water testing on many of the spring waters available today was done by the

Water Information and Education

There are many different bottled water companies, and there are hundreds of different bottled water products out today. However for the numerous companies and products there are also numerous differences in the quality, taste and most importantly health of the water we are drinking.

Distilled Water - Produced using city water. Boiled and steam captured.

Excellent for use in production environments where the water is used for cooling and lubrication. Distilled water will not leave residue and is much better for the maintenance and longevity of the equipment.  No mineral content.

Reverse Osmosis - Produced using city water. Filtration through membranes.

Can be used for aquariums, plant watering, as well as in production environments for the same reasons mentioned above. Also chosen by some for a drinking water. Reverse Osmosis is produced by removing almost all mineral content through membranes and filtration. In some products the minerals are reintroduced into the water after filtration. Very Low mineral content.

Spring Water - Natural occurring water. Particle filtered.

Spring water is bottled drinking water that is from a naturally occurring source. The water is particle filtered to remove impurities and none of the minerals are removed in this process. A preferred drinking water but can also be used for plant watering and in aquariums (use spring waters with very low mineral content for fish).

Glacier Water - Natural occurring water (not ground water). Particle filtered.

Glacier water is the only type of bottled drinking water that comes from inside a protected source and there is no “ground water”. The water is drawn from inside a glacier where the streams come together and pool. The age of the water from inside the glacier can be 100’s of years old, free from impurities in the environment. A preferred drinking water but can also be used for plants and aquariums as well.
